Anodising is an electrochemical process which converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant oxide layer. This aluminium oxide is not applied to the surface like coating or plating, but is fully integrated with the underlying aluminium substrate. This means it cannot chip or peel. It has a highly ordered, porous structure which allows secondary processes such as colouring. Our anodising layers meet all the quality standards for outdoor use, such as QUALANOD and BS.

Alumet anodises aluminium in colour and gloss

Our colour range includes gold tones. We can anodise from light champagne or “new silver” to dark gold. We do not use pigments, but metals to obtain the gold colour. Gold anodising is therefore extremely UV resistant and will remain sparkling for a long time.

Maintenance

Anodised aluminium used in architecture requires very little maintenance. The anodising layer consists of metal, aluminium oxide and is hard and robust. Maintenance is therefore understood to mean: cleaning of the product. A clean anodised aluminium surface has a very long lifespan. Under normal conditions, it can easily last 80 years, without losing its gloss or colour (e.g. the electrolytically dyed layers).

Alumet B.V. hereby declares that the anodising activities that it has performed meet the QUALANOD requirements, class 20 mu or 25 mu, which Alumet B.V. and the client had agreed upon in writing. This means that the anodised components will be free of any corrosion and will not contain any cracks, blisters or filiform corrosion. Corrosion on the unprotected and untreated cut will not affect the adjacent anodising layers. The natural and electrolytically coloured components will also not be subject to any discolouration when exposed to sunlight.
