Alumet also wants to contribute to this. By reusing materials as much as possible, and applying the latest techniques. Our new state-of-the-art anodizing line uses the latest techniques to use much less energy and water.

Anodizing layer doesn't
corrode under normal circumstances
For premium anodized profiles it is important to have:
- The anodizing layer is transparent Good base material: Alloy in EN AW 6060 or 6063, with little variation in extrusion properties, limited extrusion lines and similar gloss.
- All profiles should be blasted before anodizing, the mechanical pre-treatment minimizes material and gloss differences and removes dye lines better than chemical alkaline etching.
- Non isolated profiles, isolation strips should be placed after anodizing. We can better mechanical pre-treat and make better electrical contact if profiles are supplied without isolation strips. This electrical contact will improve the reproduction of colour a lot! Please take notice that you will have to cut 3 cm from the ends of profile to remove clamp (contact) points.

For premium anodized flat sheets it is important to have:
- Good base material is vital for premium anodized sheets. EN AW 5005 AQ (Anodizing Quality) is needed. There are several good brands with 5005 alloy from producers like Novelis, Aleris Hydro and Constellium.
- Sheets do not need blasting as pre-treatment to make them more homogenous. It is possible to blast them and make them similar to profiles. This is only possible on 3 mm thick sheets to prevent deformation during blasting process.

- The anodizing layer is transparent, good base material is vital for premium anodized sheets. EN AW 5005 AQ (Anodizing Quality) is needed. Alucobond uses anodizing quality aluminium for premium anodized sheets.
- Sheets do not need blasting as pre-treatment to make them more homogenous. It is possible to blast them and make them similar to profiles.

For premium anodized accessories it is important to have:
- The anodizing layer is transparent, good base material is vital for premium anodized accessories. Window hedges are often made of EN AW 6060 alloy, which is no problem to anodize. Door handles are more difficult, as they are often made of cast alloys.
- Door handles cannot be brushed or polished in Alumet, we do not have the machines to perform these operations on small parts, blasting is possible.
